Although spikes resemble wax worms, the difference is spikes are smaller than wax worms (which can get up to one inch long and are fatter then spikes). The colors are absorbed into the body of the wax worm. The color will last up to 1 hour under water which is longer then anyone should have a wax worm on a hook any how.
